It always makes me feel good when I know my blog is benefiting someone.

Anyway, good news for you... my friend who told me about Red Root is from Uganda & said that it grows over there. Another friend of mine from the Caribbean also told me that it grows in the islands as well. This stuff will grow from Canada to Mexico. So I wouldn't worry about that "temperate climate" thing, you're bound to find it somewhere.

If you can't find it on your own property, find it elsewhere & replant. The seeds from the flowers will do the rest.ABRAMOLANDhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13445377659636622323noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2073700045123959832.post-15065658895756523182012-08-26T10:06:44.436-07:002012-08-26T10:06:44.436-07:00Red Root? I saw the word 'temperate climates' might be too hot here for us to grow it but I'll try anything, ha. Thanks!! It looks yummy and it certainly seems very healthy. 1st Manhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04861609647607912193noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2073700045123959832.post-44097531134810119692012-06-17T08:58:02.421-07:002012-06-17T08:58:02.421-07:00You'll find that it's good on a LOT of thi...You'll find that it's good on a LOT of things. Because it blooms around December it's their holiday drink. They also replace cranberry sauce with jellied sorrel. It's to die for. Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE who I shared my sorrel jelly with fell in love with it. It's been less than a week since I made it & I've already had requests for more. It's that good.

Sorrel has to be sweetened & then if you like, mixed with things like cinnamon, cloves and/or ginger. I recommend that you google a recipe for the drink. Even the recipe on the back of the package that I now have is almost entirely to taste. And if you sweeten it with something other than sugar, you get many health benefits as well (high blood pressure, weight loss, etc...) Here's an article I found interesting regarding sorrel. http://doctorschar.com/features/jamacian-sorrel/

Last thing, remember that like any tea, the sorrel blooms get steeped not boiled.

Good luck with it.
Abramo.ABRAMOLANDhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13445377659636622323noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2073700045123959832.post-39126863391121572842012-02-20T14:24:26.717-08:002012-02-20T14:24:26.717-08:00Dried Sorrel flowers???
